QUESTIONS

  • Our Private Lessons are tailor made for you, or your group, and to do that we need to talk to you prior to training. All you have to do is click on the CONTACT US link above and schedule a call from us.

We will call you on that day, at the time chosen, and go over your shooting history/background, what your goals are training with us, and any other issues you may want us to address or be aware of.

For a Handgun Fundamentals class, we will schedule the 2 days of training where we typically like to have the second day about 1 week after the first day of training.

  • Equipment requirements are listed on the page with the class description. HMT can provide some equipment for you, if you do not already own it or are unsure what to purchase. Please discuss this with us when we call you to plan your training.

We DO NOT ever train with concealed carry holsters or equipment. It is far too dangerous to train with live ammo and concealed carry holsters. When we do train with holsters, it is a requirement that they are positioned on your strong side and are “duty style” or “competition” holsters.

If you are unsure of what equipment you should have or if something you own can be used during training, simply discuss this with us during your call with our instructor when we are planning for your training.

With this said, we can design a Concealed Carry specific class and adapt it to our safety standards AND proper concealed carry techniques that will allow you to establish proper muscle memory.

  • The entire concept for the Gunfighter Membership is to give our amazing students incentives to continue training. On top of that it also is a way for us to provide advice that most of our students ask for, in a way that keeps this information out of the hands of a typical bystander.

With your Gunfighter Membership you will receive the following benefits:

The annual membership fee is credited towards the next class you register for. As long as you train with us at least once per year, your membership is FREE!

With each class you earn increased discounts towards future training. Every class earns you an increase of 10% compounding, with no cap. *Some rules apply

You will have access to videos, training documents, equipment advice, etc. All of this has been prescreened by our instructor staff to be quality content.

  • It’s very simple actually, the more you train with us we reward you with lower prices to make it easier and easier to simply keep training.

We understand that to be properly prepared to use a firearm in self-defense, you need constant training. All of you that have trained with us can confirm that there is a MASSIVE amount of information you need to learn, and master, to be proficient with your firearm.

Our normal instructor rate is $100/hr. We want to reward our students who are dedicated to their own success, by increasing their ability to continue training. The 10% discount is truly compounding, up to the point where you can receive training for FREE!

With this said though, we still need to cover costs it takes to provide quality training. Once you get to a 60% discount, we require that you become a sort of Ambassador of Training for us and start bringing others to train with you, or you can simply stay at the 50% discounted rate. Please keep in mind that this discount can also be applied to Group Training, which is already discounted because the instructor fee is distributed amongst the group.

By bringing people into the HMT family, you will continue to increase your discount all the way to 100% and you train for free, and the people you’ve recruited to train with us will start their own membership and start earning their own discounted rates.

  • We are currently using a couple of ranges that allows us to teach everything in our curriculum. One of our locations is just east of Woodland, WA. The second location is at Evergreen Sportsmans Club in Olympia, WA.

We can also use any legal location you may know of, and we’ll come to you. Depending on the distance, this could involve an additional fee to cover travel and time spent coming to you.

  • All of our instructors are highly trained and have extensive backgrounds in self-defense and gunfighting specifically. We are not the typical gun enthusiast who became NRA Certified to be a pistol or rifle instructor, all of our instructors are vastly more competent.

Our standard fee is $100/hr for private lessons. If you register for a private lesson with another person or group class, this cost is shared across the students, and you save a lot of money. *See notes below.

Handgun Fundamentals classes are offered at 50% off our standard instructor rate. We don’t want to limit quality training to just those families who can afford the standard rate, everyone needs to be trained properly so they are safe and confident with a firearm.

*Note: The shared rate is for the first 2 students. Additional students will have an additional 50% of the normal hourly rate added to the total owed. How the group splits up who pays what, is up to you 🙂

For example, 3 people want to train together and they are registering for a Handgun Fundamentals class. The first two are calculated at our discounted rate for Handgun Fundamentals which is $50/hr. The third person is charged at 50% of that rate, which would be $25/hr. So, the total hourly rate for this group would be $75/hr.

Using this same calculation applied to a Defensive Handgun course, if 3 people registered, the total would be $150/hr.

Remember, you will also get your final fee discounted by whatever tier you are at with your VIP Membership. Initial members will get their $20 membership fee credited to this class and current VIP Members will receive their compounding total percentage discount!

  • Our standard Handgun Fundamentals class is 7hrs of training, split up between 2 days. On the first day we spend 4hrs training and then spend an additional day of training for 3hrs that reinforce what you learned the first day and then quickly builds on it so you actually graduate training with a solid foundation of safety, confidence, and the ability to defend yourself.

In essence, you learn how to safely and confidently use a firearm on the first day and the following week we review and then apply what you learned in a way that is actually training at the next level….gunfighting!

Can I just do a 1-day course of instruction? Yes, you can sign up for just a 4hr session. This will be spent learning safety and the fundamentals of shooting. By the end of the day you will be safe and confident handling your firearm and you will have the building blocks of marksmanship.

The classes you typically see from local ranges are usually between 1 to 2 hrs of training. They will cover safety and the very basics of marksmanship. You will leave just slightly better than you were when you arrived for the class. We don’t believe in this type of training.

Here at HMT, we believe in preparing you to defend yourself. We teach GUNFIGHTING. And yes, every student leaves our 2-day Handgun Fundamentals class prepared to defend themselves!

  • Absolutely!

At our range we can have up to 4 people train at the same time. For larger groups we would need a 3 month notice to request the use of an entire range (WMGC has 3 ranges).

The best part is, we would spread the cost of the group training amongst the group, so the individual shooters pay less.

The ideal number of students for a Handgun Fundamentals class is 1 or 2. Once we get past 2 students, the time each student gets is reduced.

The ideal number of students for a group class is 3 to 4. If we go past 4 students, we will need a 3 month notice to book an entire range and we need to plan for more instructors.

  • This is perfectly fine and it’s actually preferable for those folks who are new to firearms and are unsure of what to purchase.

People who do not already own a firearm or are in the planning stages of making a purchase, we suggest you register for a Handgun Fundamentals class ASAP. In these classes we bring out all of our handguns and allow you to train with them so you can get a feel for what you may want. We will also discuss the different options and assist you with making that decision.

One of the worst mistakes we see with people who are purchasing their first firearm is to listen to a salesperson at a gun counter, or family/friend, for advice on what they should purchase. Sometimes you will get someone knowledgeable and give you sound advice, but many times it’s the opposite, and you end up buying something that is simply not right for you.

  • The short answer is yes. We can adapt our Handgun Fundamentals class to train minors. As long as your kids are developed enough to understand and follow directions, they are typically ready for some level of training.

We will of course train at their level and modify as we go along to ensure their safety comes first and foremost with the end goal of them leaving with a solid respect for firearms.

If you want your younger family members to train with you, please follow the directions on our waivers to fill out the appropriate forms to allow us to train them.

  • Payment is required at time of registration. You must register through the website or your seat may not be reserved, unless given specific instructions by a staff member.

    Class tuition is non-refundable.

You may transfer your tuition to another class as long as you give us 72 hours notice before the start time. If the Instructor cancels the class, you will be given the option to move your registration to another date or receive a full refund.

Please understand that if you are unsafe, you may be asked to leave the range or not receive a certificate of completion at the instructor's discretion. You will not be refunded the class tuition fee if you are asked to leave or if you do not receive a certificate of completion. Hoffmann Marksmanship Training reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

You must be 18 years old to participate, unless accompanied by an adult with proper waivers signed.

If you do not see a class that you want, please give us a call, text, or email and we will set one up. We look forward to a friendly, safe and fun firearms training class with you!
